Bethlehem Steel - Sparrows Point series.
Pennsylvania Steel Company had been making steel at Sparrows Point since 1889. The area was purchased by Bethlehem Steel Company in 1916.
Maryland Steel Company established the Sparrows Point Shipyard in 1889. Again, the Bethlehem Steel Company purchased the shipyard in 1917.
During the mid-twentieth century, Bethlehem Steel’s Sparrows Point shipbuilding yard was one of the most active shipbuilders in the United States.
