Starting in circa 1850, the Maryland Historical Society (MdHS) photographic collection contains well over one million items including daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, cartes-de-visite, albumen prints, salted paper prints, acetate negatives, and more. Photographs are part of MdHS's Special Collections Department, H. Furlong Baldwin Library.

Artscape begins tomorrow and this year it’s stretching it’s legs into the Station North Arts and Entertainment District, pictured here before the neighborhood was designated as such. Note the photo shows Sports Centre Ice Skating, WFBR Radio Station/Centre Theatre (with My Little Chickadee on the marquee), Seventh Baptist Church, Ayares Auto Loans, and two streetcars (one to Walbrook and one to Wolfe & Aliceanna Streets).

Baltimore Heritage will host free walking tours around Station North during Artscape and explain the neighborhood’s deep roots in arts and industry. You could also download the Explore Baltimore Heritage app or go to the website and take your own tour. Some tours feature MdHS photographs.
