Before their store at York Road and Belvedere Avenue, Hochschild Kohn opened a department store on North Howard Street, near Lexington Street. They were Baltimore’s first local downtown department store and the first to abandon this area. Read more about the department store in Baltimore Style Magazine.

The City Hall Collection, not to be confused with the Baltimore City Life Museum Collection, was given to MdHS as a gift of City Hall in 1975.

The Peale/Baltimore City Life Museum Collection (BCLM) was transferred to MdHS in 1998 after BCLM closed its doors. BCLM photographs are featured on this tumblr frequently.

Hi, there are over a million photographs in the collection, so only a very small number are currently digitized. I don’t see any for the general place “Mount Airy”, although some individual roads, houses, and other buildings may be digitized.

I searched for Mount Airy photographs on the MdHS website (http://www.mdhs.org) using keywords “Mount Airy” and “Mt. Airy” (sometimes it is not consistent) and came up with images that may be in the following collections:
